We were so lucky to be chosen as the wedding dance band for Gordy and Anne’s wedding at The St. Julien Hotel. Boulder is my hometown and I was thrilled when I got the call. They were looking for a fun party, dance band for their destination wedding and I’d say Deja Blu delivered! The St. Julien Hotel is a 5-star hotel. With the awe inspiring Flatirons serving as the backdrop, this wedding reception venue sports one of the best views in Boulder County for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour.
We have played the St. Julien more than a few times so I knew the room layout and top notch staff very well. There were some very interesting challenges that we were faced with including the inclement weather of Colorado. Luckily, I was fortunate to work with their venue coordinator, Ivette Navarro and the wedding planner Kate Siegel. Outdoor wedding ceremonies in Colorado are always a hit and miss thing and it wasn’t looking too good 30 minutes before the ceremony, but suddenly the Rain Gods decided to shine on us and the signal was given. Working together with all the vendors we pulled off a ceremony, cocktail and dance reception that will go down as one of the MOST FUN dance parties in my book!
The dance floor was packed all night long. It was non-stop, high energy with 2 encores and the guests storming the stage at the end of the night. The group hug at the end of the night was my idea and I crack myself up looking at the photos (see end of night photos)!
And when the mother of the bride, dad, bride, groom and guests all come up after to say “Thank you – great job!” – that makes my night!
